A food forest garden includes small trees like banana & papaya, shrubs like mulberry & barbados cherry, pollinator plants and small edibles & herbs like lemongrass & cranberry hibiscus that grow year round here in South Florida. They need less water, care, and attention then raised beds veggie gardens.
Our food forest home garden installations take up about 5’ x 12-15’ of full to partial sun space in your yard. They include 1 to 3 trees and a variety of edible & medicinal plants, herbs, flowers & ground cover. Some of our favorite perennial food forest plants to install are: papaya, banana, moringa, chaya, mulberry, Surinam cherry, achiote, taro, yuca, turmeric, cranberry hibiscus, lemongrass, native flowers, Cuban oregano, sugar cane, boldo, lippia alba, blanket flower, barbados cherry, African blue basil, katuk, pineapple & more! |
